چکیده

The two-alternative forced-choice technique, which has been used to examine hysterical blindness, was used to assess purported loss of hearing in a 2 7-yearold male. The patient was asked to guess which of two temporal intervals contained a sound. Significant findings were obtained to suggest that the patient heard sounds he claimed he was unable to hear. The results are discussed in terms of using the forced-choice technique as a strategy for assessing sensory deficits.

Malingering detection with the dot counting test.

The Dot Counting Test (DCT) offers a technique for malingering detection that is less transparent than the forced-choice testing that has received so much recent attention. The present study defined six dependent variables derived from DCT responses, and examined these variables in the context of differentiating simulators from non-simulators. Four groups of subjects were studied: normal contro...

The nosological conception of Ganser syndrome (GS) has evolved as the hysterical etiopathogenesis has been examined against psychosis, malingering, factitious disorders and/or organic lesions. Few articles and little scientific research and theory are available supporting the complicated diagnosis of GS. The similarities and differences between GS and factitious disorders and malingering are ex...
